In geological disposal of radioactive waste, it is important to clarify chemical reactions in a compacted bentonite. In the present study, electric field was applied to enhance calcium sulfate precipitation in the compacted montmorillonite. Results showed that calcium sulfate sparsely precipitated as gypsum up to 300μm aggregates.
