[2M20] Investigation of in-reactor cesium chemical behavior in TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident
(10)Phenomenological generation mechanisms of spherical cesium bearing particle
Keywords:Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident, Cesium chemistry, Insoluble cesium bearing particle, Inorganic zinc paint, Fission products, Reactor cooling isolation condenser, Supression chamber pool
Insoluble cesium bearing particles, as found in Fukushima and metropolitan areas, have unique chemical and microstructural features. It is believed not only from compositional considerations but also from glassy microstructure needing a rapid cooling that the particles were generated in RPV of Fukushima Daiichi Unit 2. The phenomenological generation mechanisms are discussed in relation to the time line of accident progression in Unit 2.
