原子力発電所等から発生する硫黄を含有した放射性廃棄物を安定化処理するため，硫酸リン酸ガラスを用いた固化を検討している。同ガラスは低温処理が可能である一方で，耐水性が低いことが課題となる。本研究では，比較的耐水性が高いZnO-Na2O-SO3-P2O5の4成分系ガラスに対し，CaOおよびFe2O3を添加することで，耐水性が飛躍的に向上することを浸出試験により明らかとした。
