Fine sodium titanate nanowires were fabricated by immersion of titanium-aluminum alloy in alkaline solution through selective dissolution of aluminum followed by oxidation of titanium. The crystal structure of the nanowires is composed of layers of sodium ions sandwiched between layers of titanium oxides, and they exhibit remarkable Sr ion-exchange properties.
