Hitachi is developing the light water cooled fast reactor, aiming at realizing a fuel cycle, which enables us to reduce greenhouse gas emission and provide stable energy source. Roles of the light water cooled fast reactor such as break-even reactor, TRU burnerand maintaining fuel cycle flexibility, as a reactor based on technologies of the commercialized BWR, were cleared and its deployment scenario and R&D plan were studied.
