[2I12] Development of an innovative small sodium-cooled fast reactor

(5)3D thermal hydraulic analysis of RVACS heat removal characteristics

Keywords:Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor, Reactor Vessel Auxiliary Cooling System, Natural Circulation, CFD, STAR-CCM+

The Reactor Vessel Auxiliary Cooling System (RVACS) passively removes decay heat from the reactor vessel by natural circulation. In order to confirm technical characteristics and reliability of the safety related RVACS which have been developed abroad, 3D thermal hydraulic analyses (STAR-CCM+) are prepared. Analyses planning, analysis conditions setting, 3D modelling (outside of the reactor vessel [air flow path] and inside [sodium flow path]) and preliminary analyses have been conducted.
