Neutronics experiments with deuterium-tritium (D-T) neutron sources are necessary for evaluating the tritium breeding performances of fusion blankets. A discharge-type fusion neutron source based on deuterium-deuterium (D-D) fusion was employed in the previous blanket neutronics experiment. However, in order to operate the fusion device based on D-T fusion, reducing the amount of tritium fuel is required. Therefore, self-sufficient system using an intermetallic compound ZrCo in the sealed vacuum vessel, was designed and installed to the fusion device. In the present work, the device with self-sufficient system was operated in a D-D mode and neutron production rate (NPR) was measured by a helium gas-filled proportional counter. In addition, the relation between the ZrCo temperature and NPR was investigated.
