Many efforts are underway to utilize computer simulations to elucidate hydrogen combustion behavior, which is important in the development of severe accidents in light water reactors. As one of these efforts, hydrogen deflagration experiment has been conducted to validate computer simulations. The balance between computational cost and accuracy has been raised as an issue. Therefore, as a first step, a comparative study of several turbulence models was conducted to optimize the turbulence model. The propagation velocity of a hydrogen flame calculated by four different turbulence models was compared. The results show that the standard k-ε model give the closest values to the experimental values, rather than the advanced turbulence models that have been subjected to various modifications.
