[2E09] Irradiation Effect on Fracture Properties of LPS and CVD SiC
キーワード:SiC, Ion irradiation, Fracture toughness
Numerous advantages of SiC and SiC/SiC composites make them appropriate for nuclear environment. Fracture energy of matrix is one of key parameters to determine mechanical properties of the SiC/SiC composites. Irradiation affects the mechanical properties.
To understand the variation of fracture properties, 2 kinds of materials, chemical vapor deposition SiC (CVD-SiC) and liquid-phase sintering SiC (LPS-SiC) specimens, which were reference matrix materials for the SiC/SiC composites were irradiated by 5.1MeV Si ions at 800 ℃ at different doses (0.1/1/3/10 dpa). Fracture toughness and other mechanical properties were evaluated considering the residual stress caused by constraint of non-irradiated region below the irradiated region.
