[1F15] Assessment of dust dispersion data for future safety analysis of Fukushima Daiichi fuel debris retrieval
(10) Characterization of once-molten kg-scale fuel debris simulants containing uranium
Keywords:fuel debris, thermite reaction, induction heating, microstructure, debris characterization
To contribute to the safety evaluation of the fuel debris retrieval process at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, kg-scale inhomogeneous uranium-containing fuel debris simulants, which is estimated to exist in the reactor pressure vessel, were manufactured using thermite reaction or induction heating methods. Both manufactured materials were analyzed to understand their characterization considering their impact on the dust dispersal behavior in the fuel debris retrieval process.
