In order to improve the performance of the iodine removal system in a filtered containment venting systems in the event of a severe accident, we focused on ionic liquid. An ionic liquid mixed with water was irradiated with the cumulative dose assumed in a severe accident, and analyzed chemical structure of the irradiated ionic liquid. As a result, it was confirmed that the ionic liquid was hydrolyzed. However organic iodine could be removed even in the hydrolyzed ionic liquid.
