In Japan, the decommissioning of a number of nuclear power plants are planned or underway since the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
In order to implement the decommissioning smoothly and steadily, not only the nuclear industry but also a wide range of stakeholders must proceed while resolving various issues together with the local community.
For this background, as a research study for the realization of smooth and steady decommissioning, we will outline the direction of Japan's decommissioning, referring to examples of advanced decommissioning sites in Japan and overseas.
