[1F02] Changes in the Safety Climate at Nuclear Power Plants
A Questionnaire Survey
Keywords:nuclear power plants, events, safety climate, changes, questionnaire survey
Every three years since 2002 to the present, we have conducted a safety climate survey at nuclear power plants located across Japan. During that time, there have been several events related to nuclear power that have attracted wide public attention. For example, the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station set off by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake. After the Fukushima Daiichi accident, all nuclear plants were forced to shut down, but some have gradually restarted under the new regulatory standards. However, there are still many plants that have yet to restart. Surveys have been conducted periodically before and after these events to record the perceptions of the safety climate of the personnel working at nuclear power plants. We examine how these events have affected the power plant personnel.
