[3H06] Development of the Hydrogen Microscope using Micro-He Beam Transmission Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis
Keywords:Hydrogen microscope, Hydrogen analysis, T-ERDA, Microbeam, He beam
Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ERDA) has been used to detect light elements in materials, especially hydrogen. The elastic recoil of hydrogen by He beams with energies from 8 to 10 MeV is characterized by an increase in the elastic recoil cross section in the forward direction. By taking advantage of this feature, the Transmission ERDA using a high-energy He beam can be used to detect hydrogen distribution in the depth direction down to a sample thickness of about 0.2 mm. Furthermore, the measurement system can be constructed to observe the three-dimensional structure of the hydrogen distribution by combination of the microbeam technique and the beam scanning method. The current status of the "Operando Hydrogen Microscope" development will be reported.
