[59] A Basic Study on the Continuous Management Focusing on Process of Developments of Public Squares in Local City

This study aimed to obtain knowledge about the way of continuous management by clarifying the activities details and its system of the development processes including the planning, designing, and management period of public squares in local cities. First, we analyzed the location characteristics, spatial characteristics, and management system of all 56 cases of public squares in Japan, selected 3 cases, and analyzed the actual conditions of the deployment process. Second, “Akashi Shimin-Hiroba“ was positioned as the initial phase, “IBALAB-Hiroba“ as the growing phase, and “Toyama Grand-Plaza” as the maturity phase. And “IBALAB-Hiroba“ that has the potential to mature, was analyzed in detail. We showed that multiple public participation were incorporated in the development process of the “IBALAB-Hiroba“. In order to move to the maturity phase, we indicated the possibility of ensuring the continuity of activities with independent funds and the possibility of management by consolidating major organizations.
