[LS1-1A-1] QOL and Self-Esteem of Children with ADHD

Yoichi Sakakihara (Ochanomizu University, Tokyo, Japan)

ADHD is one of the most common behavioral disorders in children. Numerous studies have proven that drug treatment is effective in ameliorating disruptive behaviors. Drug therapy was once regarded as the means to “normalize” children’s maladaptive behaviors.
However, many studies have indicated that comorbidities rather than the current maladaptive behavior have more serious effects on children’s later development.
In my presentation, I will discuss the seriousness of comorbidities of ADHD by reviewing previous articles on AHD comorbidities. In addition, I will talk about the results of my own research on the effect of inattentive and hyperactive behaviors on the development of QOL and self-esteem in young children.
