[P1-45] A knowledge, attitude, practice survey toward primary healthcare providers about vaccination of children with epilepsy and or cerebral palsy: What is the tread stone?
Background: In China, the immunization of children with epilepsy and cerebral palsy are facing several problems. At present, research of vaccination for these children is also rare. If these people are all unvaccinated, terrible public health problem can eventuate. Therefore, it is essential to understand these children’s vaccination status, investigate the KAP of the vaccination providers.
Methods: 483 children with EP/CP, their vaccination status was collected from CDC database as case group, another vaccination status of 500 cases heathy children were collected as control group. A questionnaire was distributed to vaccination providers by Hunan provincial CDC, collected KAP about vaccination of children with EP/CP.
Results: The proficient vaccination rate of case group was significantly lower than control group. (P=0.004, P=0.005, for EP and CP, respectively.) A total of 713 vaccination providers were involved. The participants’ knowledge about patient with EP/CP were unsatisfactory. Their attitudes toward vaccination of children with EP/CP were quite prudent, the time of seizure-free and EEG situation were the most important influencing factors of their attitude. The respondents’ experience of admitting children with EP/CP was few. EP and CP are recognized as contradictions by most of them.
Conclusions: The vaccination status of children was epilepsy and cerebral palsy was significantly lower than heathy children. A survey toward Chinese vaccination providers was presented by us to find the reason. The respondents had a considerable misunderstanding about the contradictions of some vaccine. Education of vaccination providers about vaccination to children with EP and CP is urgent, to protect these vulnerable patients.
