[PS11-2C-K ] Neonatal Neurology
The most common cause of neonatal seizures are HIE in neonatal period. Neonatal seizures are considered to be an indicator of poor outcome in infants with HIE. Background EEG activities are highly depressed during the acute period. Non-epileptic paroxysmal events are quite common in infants with HIE. Subclinical seizures are also common, especially after treatment with AED. Head MRI reveals lesions in basal ganglia, thalami, PLIC, and white matter.
