[SP1-2E-1] CONGENITAL RUBELLA SYNDROME : A SURVEILLANCE IN BANDUNG
[Introduction]
Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) mostly characterized by triad manifestation (congenital heart diseases, cataract congenital and hearing impairment). World Health Organization (WHO) has declared elimination from rubella in the world. CRS data in Indonesia is very limited. Collaboration with Ministry of Health, Indonesia had been done some surveillance in some region until present. Hasan Sadikin Hospital is one of sentinel hospital for CRS surveillance.
[Methodology]
CRS surveillance had been done since 2013 until now. Inclusion criteria is all infant below 1 years old fulfilled WHO criteria for suspected CRS will be enrolled and tested for rubella serology. Test for serology: IgM rubella tested for infant bellow 6 month old, IgM and IgG rubella tested for infant 6 – 12 month old. All patients will be evaluated by Ophthalmologist and check for hearing impairment.
[Results]
There were 71 patients suspected CRS (1.1 ‰) , most of them is male (68.3%) and < 6 month old (56.1%) . Clinically CRS is 20 patients (28%) and 5 patients (7 %) had laboratory confirms CRS. Clinical features are very varieties. Patients with laboratory confirm showed 4 (80%) patients with congenital heart diseases, 2 (50%) patients with cataract, 4 (80%) patients with microcephaly, 3 (60%) patients with developmental delayed and 1 (20%) patients with labiognatopalataoschizis. None of the patients had been evaluated for hearing impairment because some reason.
[Conclusions].
Congenital rubella syndrome still common found in our hospital. Need comprehensive management to manage these patients. CRS surveillance needs to be done continuously.
