[SP4-3B-1] Early detection of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by applying specific preferential-looking behavior using time sequential analysis

[Purpose] It is well known that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) prefer to look at geometric figures rather than people. Based on this specificity, we conducted a cohort study to detect ASD at 18 months old. In this study, the aim was to know the trajectory between 2 years-old and 3 years-old in ASD high risk group.
[Subjects and Methods] The subjects were 134 high-risk infants suspected to have developmental disorders at health examinations at 18 months old. They had an examination of preferential looking using an eye gaze detector (JVC KENWOOD Corporation, Japan) at 2 years-old. 79 of them had same one at 3 years-old and the trajectory was detected.
[Results] When the data acquisition rate was more than 0.6, 133 infants of 2 years-old and 76 of 3 years-old were employed as time sequential analysis. There were significant differences in five short movies. All movies showed that 2 year-s-old infants preferred to look at faces than 3 years-old, and also 3 years-old children preferred to look at geometric figures than 2 years-old.
[Conclusion] We succeeded to detect the differences of preferential-looking behavior in trajectory of high-risk infants. The results suggested that the characteristics of preferential looking behavior, that is ASD children preferred to look at geometric figure than face, was remarkable in trajectory.
