26th Annual Meeting of the Ecology and Civil Engineering Society in Kyoto

Presentation application

<Important announcement>

Because presentation slots are still available, the due date for the abstract submission is extended for one week: the new deadline is 17:00(JST), 8 (Sun) August , 2021.

We welcome more presentations in particular of students who might have thought about it but hesitated a bit because of a mental hurdle for the on-line oral presentations. Interesting findings in preliminary experiments are also acceptable as long as they are well integrated as scientific research with clear objectives and designs.

Caution: the deadline of the presentation application remains 17:00(JST), 1 (Sun) August , 2021. Please make sure to complete the application by then with information such as a brief description of presentation summary content in 7 lines or 150 words. When submitting the application online, clearly write "abstract will be submitted later" in the “Message” box. We apologize the online application system does not work without PDF attachments. Thus, please attach a blank PDF file in application, and later send the abstract file to the society at sapporo2021@ecesj.com.

Call for Presentations
The presentation application is now open for the 24th Annual Meeting of the Ecology and Civil Engineering Society (ECES) in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Categories of presentations are either research reports, case studies or other topics in the field of ecology and civil engineering. Only oral style presentations are acceptable in English along with Japanese. Presenters can choose either presentation at the venue (face-to-face together with online screen sharing to the audience on-line) or presentation on-line. Please submit your presentation in line with the following guidelines. When you register for the presentation, an abstract of research (one-page A4 in a PDF file format) must be submitted; abstract preparation guideline is provided at the end of this page.

[1] Topics
Acceptable presentations should be research reports and case studies on topics in relation to ecology and civil engineering. Preliminary research reports will be also acceptable if they are applicable to various fields of ecology and civil engineering.

[2] Presentation method
Presentations will be done using slide presentation softwares such as PPT. Presentation at the venue will be projected on a projection screen with an on-line sharing using ZOOM (https://zoom.us/jp-jp/meetings.html). On-line presentations will be also done with ZOOM. On-line presenters will be required to prepare their own PC/ZOOM environments by themselves.

[3] Presentation style
When applying to the presentation, please make sure to select either “face-to-face presentation at the venue”, “on-line presentation”, or “no preferences”. In principle, switching from “on-line” to “face-to-face” after the presentation application will not be allowed. When the application to the presentation exceeds the upper limit of the seats available, the local organizing committee will possibly make adjustments in terms of presentation style and select presenters based on some pre-set criteria (e.g., a single presentation by the same author, a limited number of presentations from the same group from the same institutes, a priority given to students and young practitioners and researchers). The operation of ZOOM system at the venue for the on-line presenters will be fully assisted by the local organizing committee.

[4] Duration of oral presentation
Each oral presentation would be ca. 15 minutes long (12 minutes for presentation followed by a 3-minute discussion period).
