公開シンポジウム/Public Symposium

　本大会の公開シンポジウムは，応用生態工学会第26回京都大会実行委員会と応用生態工学会国際交流委員会、京都大学防災研究所水資源環境研究センターとの共催で行います．開催概要は以下の通りです．本シンポジウムは河川基金の助成を受けて実施し，一般にも公開します．
This Public Symposium will be co-organized by the Executive Committee of the 26th ECES Annual Meeting, the International Committee of ECES, and the Water Resources Research Center, DPRI, Kyoto University. Please see the symposium overview below. This symposium is supported by the River Fund of The River Foundation, Japan and will also be open to be public.

【テーマ/Theme】

　森川里海をつなぐ「砂の道」～総合的な流域管理に向けて～
Sediment Corridors Connecting Forests, Rivers, Villages, and the Sea toward Integrated River Basin and Sediment Management

【開催趣旨/Introduction】

　水は高きより低きへ流れ，多くのものを山から海へともたらします.近代の日本の川は人の暮らしを守るためにその流れを堰き止め，形を変えました.そして現代社会は豊かになった一方で，流下を阻害された土砂が引き起こす問題や気候変動に伴う激しい災害に対して,流域全体を巧みに活用した河川管理が求められる時代となりました.本公開シンポジウムでは，流域管理の中でも最近着目されつつも同時に語られることの少なかった総合土砂管理と流域治水に注目し，国内外の専門家を招聘して最新の事情や方法論などについて，関連する技術者のみならず市民と共に広く共有します.
Water flows from high to low, carrying floating sediments from the mountains to the sea. In modern Japan, rivers have been interrupted and channeled for the protection of people's well-being. While modern society has become more affluent, new problems have emerged, such as sediment deposition and erosion, and severe disasters caused by climate change. In order to solve these problems comprehensively, river management that makes effective use of the entire river basin is required. This public symposium focuses on integrated sediment management and river basin flood control, which have recently been the focus of much attention but have rarely been discussed at the same time, and invites experts from Japan and overseas to share the latest researches with the general public and engineers.
