[R2-10] Pressure-response of Ba-bearing calcite
Keywords:calcite, barium, high pressure
In this study, powder X-ray diffraction patterns of calcite containing Ba were observed under high pressure.
No phase transition was observed in calcite containing Ba.
In calcite containing Ba, the 113 reflection disappears under room temperature. Even under high pressure, the 113 reflection remains absent, indicating that the carbonate ion remains in a state of disorder even when the unit cell volume decreases under high pressure. It is clear that the incorporation of incompatible Ba into the structure of calcite significantly changes the behavior of calcite under high pressure.
