[R3-01] Pressure and temperature dependence of the Raman spectra of zircon and its application as a pressure sensor in water-alkali silicate systems
Keywords:Zircon, Raman spectroscopy, diamond anvil cell, Optical pressure scale
Use of the Raman shifts of the antisymmetric stretching mode of the SiO4 tetrahedra in zircon as a Raman spectroscopic pressure sensor has been suggested. However, the corresponding experimental study is limited to 23 ℃ at 6.6 GPa, 1000 ℃ at ambient pressure, and 700 ℃ at 1.2 GPa. In the present study, we investigated the pressure and temperature dependence of the Raman spectra of zircon up to 9 GPa and 500 ℃. The observed changes in the Raman spectra of zircon suggest that the relative wavenumber shifts can be used for pressure determination under high-temperature conditions.
