[R7P-03] Petrography and mineralogy in a skarn zone in the Matsitama area, Botswana
Keywords:Skarn, garnet, diopside, Botswana
Minerals in the skarn zone found in the Matsitama area are composed of garnet, clinopyroxene, quartz, carbonate and opaque minerals. Greenish garnet grains show various chemical compositions. Clinopyroxene occurs as moderate grain-size, which has diopside component. Cu-sulphides occur as interstitial to skarn minerals and later alteration portion, implying that copper mineralization was later than the crystallization skarn minerals. Based on the chemistry, it might be assumed that garnet was crystallized in relatively oxidized condition.
