[S2-07] Silicate minerals dissolution behaviours and reordered preference in the presence of a chelating agent
Keywords:Silicates, Minerals, Dissolution, Chelating agent
The remarkable enhancement of mineral dissolution using chelating agents is increasingly reported. To clarify the dissolution behaviours of minerals in chelating agent solutions, dissolution experiments using 2 wt.% GLDA-Na4 and minerals belonging to seven major silicate groups were conducted. The mineral dissolution rate was generally higher at pH of 4 than 8, due to the enhanced leaching of both Al and Si. At both pHs, phyllosilicate biotite dissolved the fastest, suggesting a re-ordered dissolution preference by using GLDA.
