Message from Host University
The global pandemic of COVID-19, which began in early 2020, is still not expected to be contained in 2022. This pandemic of COVID-19 has affected the political, economic, social, and diplomatic affairs of countries around the world, and has also had a significant impact on international politics. At the same time, it has revealed the various problems that each country faces. The South Asian region is also not immune to the effects of this pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a major blow to the economies of South Asian countries and has also highlighted the disparities among nations and the social and economic disparities within countries.
It will be very important and interesting challenges for us as researchers to identify the various changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and to predict what the "post pandemic" world will look like. In this context, it is a great pleasure for us to be able to discuss with the members of the Japanese Association for South Asian Studies (JASAS), who are experts in various fields in the South Asian region.
Although the outlook for the COVID-19 pandemic is still uncertain, the 35th JASAS Annual Conference will be held at the Hachioji Campus of Teikyo University on September 24 (Sat.) and 25 (Sun.), 2022.
Since last year's 34th Annual Conference, the roles have been divided so that the Screening/Program Committee is in charge of soliciting and screening your presentations, and the Executive Committee is in charge of preparations for the conference. This is only the second year since the new system was established, so we are sure there are still some problems to be solved. If you notice any problems, please feel free to point them out. We are going to call for the abstract of presentation shortly. We hope that you will actively apply for the presentation. We look forward to a lively discussion on the days of the conference.
