[4] Observation of mean and fluctuating wind speed in urban area by using doppler lidar

This paper reports observation results of mean and fluctuation wind speed over Atsugi campus of Tokyo polytechnic University by using a Doppler lidar and a three-dimensional ultrasonic anemometer. Horizontal mean wind speeds measured by the Doppler lidar were in good agreement with those by the ultrasonic anemometer. In addition, standard deviations and power spectral densities of fluctuating wind speed measured by the Doppler lidar also agreed well with those measured by the ultrasonic anemometer. Next, in order to classify the vertical profile of the wind speed, we calculated atmospheric stability parameters by eddy correlation method using observed fluctuating temperature and fluctuating wind velocity data by the ultrasonic anemometer. Finally, observation data by the Doppler lidar were classified by the atmospheric stability, and vertical profile of mean wind speed and turbulence intensity for each atmospheric stability were investigated.
