[Mototsugu Oya's Biography]
Dr Mototsugu Oya obtained his medical degree (1987) and his Ph.D. (1994) from Keio University School of Medicine, Japan. Dr Oya studied abroad at the Department of Urology, New York Medical College, USA (1995-1996), and Department of Urology, Dusseldorf University, Germany (1997-1998). He is currently the Professor and Chairman, Department of Urology, Keio University School of Medicine (2007 onwards) and also holds Vice Director (2013 onwards), Keio University Hospital. He was the president of the Japanese Urological Association (April 2019-April 2021). He has published extensively over 520 peer-reviewed publications in high impact scientific journals. His life work is translational research of renal cell carcinoma, urothelial cancer and prostate cancer. He has led or joined 80 clinical trials. His recent research focus on tumor microenvironment (Nat Commun 2021; Br L Cancer 2021; Cancer Immnol Immunother 2021; Eur Urol 2022; J immunother Cancer 2022) and metabolic reprogramming of cancer (Nat Commun 2021; EMBO J 2023). He joins in various Editorial Boards such as International Journal of Urology (emeritus editor-in-chief), Cancer Science, International Case Conference Journal, Clinical and Experimental Nephrology, World Journal of Urology, International Journal Clinical Oncology, and the Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology. He was awarded the Japan Urology Association Award (2005). He published the book titled Renal Cell Carcinoma-Molecular Features and Treatment Updates-, Springer (2017).
