[ES5-02] Educational Issues for medical students and young urologists in Korea

[Biography]
Kwanjin Park, professor in Urology has been working in Seoul National University Children’s Hospital as a director of pediatric urology since 2009. He was graduated from Seoul National University and completed his residency in Seoul National University Hospital. Most of his clinical practice focuses on 1) repair of hypospadias and concealed penis 2) management of neurogenic bladder and 3) treatment of nonneurogenic pediatric voiding dysfunction including enuresis. Regarding the third topic, he is enthusiastic in treating bowel bladder disorder and he believe this will address most of pediatric voiding dysfunction. Thus, recent his clinical research topic is to quantify fecal amount in simple abdominal radiograph and how it is changed during laxative treatment. Since 2009, working as pediatric urologist, he joined 45 English papers on pediatric urology as 1st or corresponding authors. . As a scientist, he is running laboratory work, studying smooth muscle physiology in bladder. He published his paper on calcium sensitization in bladder and how this changed with development. His current research topic is related to achieving normal bladder function via central nervous system and how toilet training happens. He is active member of Korean Society of Pediatric Urologist and Asian Pacific Association of Pediatric Urologist (APAPU). He completed his term of presidency in Korean Society of Pediatric Urologist. Now he is working as education and training director of Korean Urological Association.
