[Biography]
Dr. Seung-Il Jung was born on October 17, 1973, in Gwangju, South Korea. He holds Korean nationality and has built an illustrious career in academia and medicine, earning the titles of both Medical Doctor (M.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Dr. Jung's journey in medicine began at Chonnam National University Hospital in Gwangju, where he served as an intern and resident in the Department of Urology from March 1998 to February 2003. During these formative years, he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience in the field. His dedication to urology and the pursuit of knowledge led him to further his education. In May 2006, Dr. Jung returned to Chonnam National University Hospital, this time as a Fellow in the Department of Urology at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital. He continued to excel in his studies and demonstrated a keen interest in urological research and clinical practice. Subsequently, from March 2007 to February 2008, he took up the position of an Instructor at Chonnam National University Hospital, further cementing his expertise in urology. Dr. Jung's academic prowess and commitment to the field were recognized when he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Chonnam National University Hospital's Department of Urology in March 2008. He continued to advance in his career, becoming an Associate Professor in the same department from March 2012. Throughout his journey, Dr. Jung made significant contributions to urology, both as a clinician and a researcher. Notably, Dr. Jung also ventured into administrative roles within the medical setting. From January 2016 to December 2017, he served as the Vice-Director of Planning & Budget at Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital, where he showcased strong leadership and management skills. Subsequently, from January 2018 to December 2019, he took on the role of Director of Medical Support at the same institution, further highlighting his dedication to enhancing the hospital's services and patient care. March 2017 marked a momentous occasion in Dr. Jung's career when he assumed the prestigious position of Professor and Director in the Department of Urology at Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital. In this role, he not only continued to provide exceptional patient care but also played a vital role in training and mentoring the next generation of urologists. As Dr. Jung's career progressed, he took on new challenges and responsibilities. In March 2022, he became the Director of Quality Improvement Administration at Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital. This position allowed him to contribute to the continuous improvement of healthcare services, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction. Dr. Seung-Il Jung's journey has been characterized by his unwavering passion for urology, dedication to patient care, and commitment to advancing medical knowledge in his field. As a Professor of Urology at Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital, he continues to make a significant impact, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in urological practice and research.
