The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have come to be widely recognized as a common goal for humankind, involving the international community. For many of the 17 goals and 169 targets, earth and planetary science has a significant potential role. It is also important for us, as one of the largest academic societies in Japan, to develop activities in line with the spirit of the SDGs. In this session, we will discuss how the research activities of earth and planetary science are related to the SDGs, how to expand our contributions in the future, and how JpGU itself should be in accordance with the SDGs.
