[MSD39-02] Multi Spatial and Temporal Resolution Sensor for Earth Observation in LAPAN A4 Microsatellite
Keywords:Multi Spatial, Multi Temporal, LAPAN A4 Microsatellite
Temporal and spatial resolution are important parameter for satellite design. the wider the swath will speed up the temporal resolution and generally the spatial resolution will decrease. LAPAN A4 is the fourth generation micro satellite for earth observation with the length of the main area scanning about 5000 km with varying duration. This satellite will soon be launched and is currently on assembly, integrating, and testing. 5 optical payloads will be carried with swath widths of 277, 56, and 40 km at 600 km altitudes which can be recorded together with nadir positions in daily operations. The optical payload uses near, short, and long infrared and visible channels with spatial resolutions varying from 5, 10, 20 to 176 meter. A non-optical payload was also carried, that is an automatic identification system (AIS) for detection of vessel signals and a magnetometer. This paper will discuss the details of the payload and operational missions on LAPAN A4. The potential for the use of this satellite in earth observation will be discussed based on the experience of previous Satellite generations and reference studies that are adjusted to the specifications of the payload carried.
