[MSD39-03] Cost-effective development of Myanmar Remote Sensing Microsatellite Program and its Future Prospect
Keywords:Microsatellite, Earth observation, Remote sensing, Constellation
Although Space technology was initiated in the 19th century, there is a great gap to catch up, especially for developing countries including technology and financial support. The collaboration of nations to achieve substantial goals is a cost effective method and they can also transfer technology to developing enthusiastic countries. As microsatellites become more capacable through minimized electronic components and on board processing, the design of low cost microsatellite constellations become economically feasible. With the usefulness of microsatellite and possibility of a smaller, relatively inexpensive launch system, low altitude microsatellite constellations have been increased attention. Since Hokkaido University’s Space mission center(SMC) has conducted microsatellite constellation including Asian countries , we intend to conduct this constellation with our own microsatellite. The first Myanmar earth observation microsatellite has been designed with collaboration of Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University, Hokkaido University and Tohoku University. Overview of the first Myanmar microsatellite and future satellites mission will provide the infrastructure and technologies for the development of Myanmar space exploration.
