Spring water is one of the important components of Aso UNESCO Global Geopark. We made an education
program for local community to have more understandings on spring water of Aso Geopark. This poster presents a reslt on cooperated research with Takamori Senior High School.
We carried out water survey around Minamiaso Spring Waters. We found three types of waters; spring water around the caldera wall about 10 mS/m, spring water around the southern caldera floor about 23 mS/m (
just near from the foot of the central cones about 30 mS/m), and hotspring water more than 100 mS/m. This means waters have different relation with Aso volcanic system. Citizens use this low conductivity water for sake-making, and high conductivity water for bread making, etc.
We made educational programs how to understand the difference of electrical conductivity of spring
waters; at first for high school students, and for kids and citizens later. We introduce our program briefly.
We have to express thanks to Kumamoto Prefecture for supporting us.
