[O07-P26] Analysis of water quality of irrigation ponds focused on land use, irrigation systems and periodic pond draining
Keywords:irrigational ponds, analysis of water quality, land use , irrigation systems, periodic pond draining
Recently, irrigation ponds have had poor water quality. Therefore, we focused on land use around the ponds and “Ikeboshi” or regularly draining pond water, and researched the water quality of ponds in the Higashi Harima region. We measured COD, NH4-N, NO2-N, and PO4-P in August and December. It was found that fertilizing rice fields plays a large factor in increasing nitrogen concentration. Nitrogen and phosphorus levels in the ponds in residential areas weren’t high because runoff of household effluents has decreased due to improvements in running drainpipes. Also, Ikeboshi may restrain the increase in concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus.
