[U14-04] How to support elementary, junior high and high school teachers who are not familiar with Earth Science

★Invited Papers

*Hiroyuki Hoshi1 (1.Department of Earth Sciences, Aichi University of Education)

Keywords:Earth Science Education, Science Education, School Teacher

School teachers who teach Earth Science and related subjects at elementary, junior high and high schools in Japan are not limited to those who majored in Earth Science at college or university. In fact, there are more teachers who do not know much about Earth Science than those who know well. Earth Science experts should strongly support such school teachers so that they raise the level of their knowledge, while making the teachers feel the fun and depth of Earth Science. This will greatly contribute to the improvement of the quality of Earth Science education in schools, which in turn will lead to the improvement of the Earth Science literacy of the people.
