To describe and consider the activities of the private sector in Japan's modern meteorological services has great social significance in considering the relationship between meteorological services and the public, such as disaster prevention measures. As an example of a meteorological services widely carried out by a private company from the Meiji era to the middle of the Showa era, those carried out at Sumitomo Besshi Mining Company is described based on the historical materials left by related organizations.
