[MZZ39-P06] A Study of Merging Environmental Education “NET ZERO” into a Theme-based Curriculum

The research was designed to merge Environmental Education into a theme-based curriculum in ZhongXiao junior high school in Taipei city. The topic we chose is “Net Zero” and the purposes of the research are as follows. (1) developing a curriculum merged the topic “Net Zero” into it, (2) investigating the effect of the curriculum for those students after receiving the classes, and (3) understanding the feedbacks of the teachers who participated in this curriculum. There were 23 students in 8th grade and 3 teachers in charge of designing the curriculum. We tried to design the curriculum in 6 different aspects such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, education & entertainment, and purchase. Then, the students were received the class and asked to collect the enough information to get the effect and the feedback. During the process, they needed not only to share their ideas but also to create some ideas on their conclusion. After receiving this curriculum, besides the concepts to implement “Net Zero” in different aspects, the students were also able to improve their skills and know more knowledge about environmental education. Moreover, this curriculum seemed capable of helping students develop correct concepts and create more accurate methods of environmental protection.
