Mixed metal oxides constituted of Nb-based Lewis acid and a second cation (A3+ type) are employed in sugars valorization processes. The role of the second metal and phosphate groups will tune acid-base properties to achieve high efficient catalysis.

In this presentation, we wish to introduce synthesis of high molecular weight bio-based polyesters by acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization of conjugated dienes (containing two ester functionalities) in ionic liquid. Since the ADMET polymerization is the condensation polymerization accompanied by-production of ethylene, the method conducted in vacuo is thus very useful for synthesis of high molecular weight polymers. Moreover, the catalyst and polymers can be seperated by addition of organic solvent by phase seperation. More details will be presented in the symposium.

A Co2P nanorods catalyst promoted the reductive amination of 5-formyl-2-furancarboxylic acid to 5-(aminomethyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid (AMFCA) for biomass-based polyamide. The reaction in methanol-water mixture using Co2P and NH4OAc under 5 bar of H2 provided AMFCA in 95% yield.
