[1C08] Catalytic Property of Cobalt/Silica for CO2 FT Synthesis
Hydrogenation of carbon dioxide (CO2) to synthesize fuels is one of the promising technologies for CO2 capture, utilization and storage, and must be commercialized to achieve a carbon-neutral society.
Fisher-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) over cobalt-based catalyst is known to be efficient to produce fuels from syngas, that is carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen. However, in CO2-FTS using CO2 instead of CO, formation of methane is dominant in the reaction. Thus, CO2-FTS is not industrialized yet.
In this research, the catalytic property of CO2-FTS over alkali metal doped cobalt/silica catalyst was studied to realize CO2 hydrogenation to produce C2+ hydrocarbons.
