[1D11] A case study; Localized external corrosion atmospheric tank bottom plate and application of inspection methods

After a failure at the bottom of an atmospheric tank during its operation, an internal inspection detected a localized metal loss in the center of the bottom plate. This paper discusses the mechanisms of the localized corrosion and roll out inspections to other tanks.
