Hydrocarbons will forever be important as a fuel for mobile vehicles, as a backup fuel for renewable energy, and for the chemical industry. I would like to summarize the global situation, Japanese policy and research and development trends in the future of hydrocarbons from a bird's eye view, and link this to future prospects.
