Keywords:methane, supported metal catalyst, partial oxidation

To produce syngas from methane, the low-temperature oxidative reforming is advantageous over the current steam-reforming, as it can be performed in a compact process with higher cost-efficiency. We have designed metal catalysts using zeolite supports and found that a cobalt catalyst containing trace rhodium and rhenium catalysts are active for the oxidation reaction. The rhenium system offers the partial oxidation of methane to carbon monoxide.
