Branched olefins having carbon numbers 8-16 prepared from biomass are useful as base oil of bio-jet fuel. Recently, we have been trying the oligomerization of linear butenes to prepare branched olefins effectively. A patent previously reported the oligomerization was readily proceeded using a catalyst system consisting of nickel carboxylate and EtAlCl2. This study aims to immobilize the catalyst components on silica or clay minerals to develop a heterogeneous catalyst system.
