[2E05] Development of hybrid ethylene-polymerization catalyst by immobilizing metallocene/late transition-metal complexes on montmorillonite

Heterogeneous hybrid ethylene-polymerization catalysts were prepared by immobilizing two complexes having different catalytic properties on montmorillonite. The catalysts were prepared by contacting late transition-metal ion exchanged-montmorillonite with a bis(imino)pyridine ligand, washing to remove excess ligands, followed by immobilization of group 4 metallocene complexes. Well-dispersed polyethylene blend consisting of polyethylenes having different molecular weights could be synthesized using the catalysts.
