[2E06] Relationship between molecular structure of internal donors and catalytic performance: Impact of alkyl groups of phthalates

Herein, we investigated the effect of alkyl groups (R: –nBu, -iBu, -nPr, -iPr, -Et and –Me) of phthalate-based internal donors (IDs) in a series of Ziegler-Natta catalysts. The alkyl groups of IDs not only showed high impact on the chemical composition (Ti, -OEt and ID contents) and side-reactions but also the pore characteristics were affected by the size of these groups. Moreover, an inverse relationship was observed between the alkyl size and ID contents. This side reaction, besides, was significant in terms of the catalyst performance and stereoregularity of the PP samples.
