[2F13] Development of supported iridium catalysts for the synthesis of N-containing chemicals utilizing SMSI effects
Keywords:iridium, titania, N-alkylation
Titania-supported catalysts bearing ultra-highly dispersed surface iridium species were prepared by controlling the SMSI effect. These catalysts showed excellent activities toward synthesizing N-containing chemicals, such as the N-alkylation reaction of urea. For example, titania-supported iridium catalysts of high loading, six wt%, showed high activity for synthesizing triarylamines from urea and benzyl alcohols. Small iridium nanoparticles of ca. 2 nm in diameter, could be formed by controlling the SMSI effects and responsible for the excellent activity.
