[3Xin2-107] Analysis of verbalization by holistic processing as seen in the object placement task

〇Tetsuya Yamada1, Yugo Takeuchi1 (1.Shizuoka University)

Keywords:common ground, communication, spatial cognition, whole process

In a previous study, we conducted an experiment to investigate the effect of the ability to verbalize by holistic processing on the construction of an incremental common ground. The experimental was an object placement task in VR space. This paper provides additional analysis based on the results of previous experiments. The purpose is to elucidate the details of the process of constructing the incremental common ground and to argue that the superiority of linguistic processing by holistic processing is valid. The analysis focused on mutual understanding and the time when the expressions verbalized by the holistic processing were first expressed. The results suggest that the confidence level of conversational common ground may not correspond to the confidence level of mutual understanding. It was also considered that the construction of incremental common ground can be efficiently performed by first showing the verbalized expression by the holistic processing.
