[14p-2G-9] Development of efficient mid-IR laser by OPO+DFM using PP-MgSLTand it's application to LUT of CFRP

We realized efficient generation of mid-IR laser at around 3.2 micron which wavelength is best suitable for ultrasonic-generation in laser ultrasonic testing (LUT) of carbon fiber re-inforced plastic (CFRP). Our laser consists of optical parametric oscillation (OPO) with intracavity difference frequency mixing (DFM) using original wavelength conversion device (PP-MgSLT). Idler generation efficiency was increased 1.3 times in OPO+DFM configuration compared to OPO-only configuration, and 8.2mJ idler (3.22micron) output was obtained for 26mJ pump input.
